WINTER WEATHER: How to dress & be prepared!

BRRRRRR, it’s cold! A couple of quick reminders to keep in mind with winter riding—

  1. Make sure you are receiving emails and/or texts from me in the case of extreme weather. The barn will remain open unless we are in the midst of a snow storm or temperatures below 0* (before windchill). I will communicate any closures due to weather as soon as possible VIA EMAIL FIRST, so make sure you are up to date on your emails from me!
  2. Dress your rider for winter! We keep the arena at about 45-50 degrees in the wintertime. Please dress your rider appropriately. Below is a great example (thank you, Ella Slove) of how to dress well for the barn: a nice warm and breathable base layer, heated vest, thick or fleece-lined riding pants, heated socks (I go for Hot Toes), thicker riding gloves, and a SMILE!

Speaking of Kacy Lawver Photography: I’ve just confirmed that Kacy will be photographing our March 14-15 Stable Show! This will be a great way to commemorate our first Two Day Stable Show, and this also means that each winner will get the chance to do a VICTORY PASS that will be captured professionally by Kacy. She will then have photos available for sale after the show. I’m excited already for this new show format! I’m already shopping for TRICOLOR ribbons for our championships!

Happy Holidays from Stone Ledge Farm!

One of my all time favorite photos by Kacy!

Thank you, Kacy, for capturing me with sweet Lita at last year’s Holiday Brunch!

That’s it for 2025! Have a great holiday season if I don’t see you!
